01 The History

Beal University Canada (BUC) was established in 2023 in Sackville, New Brunswick to meet the unique needs of the Atlantic region of Canada, equipping forward-looking individuals with real-world skills for careers in high-demand nursing fields. In July 2025, BUC received confirmation for a satellite location to be opened in Miramichi, New Brunswick. BUC offered the Bachelor of Science Nursing degree program at both locations. In September 2026, Yorkville University acquired Beal University Canada. Go to Yorkville University.

BUC was inspired from its sister university in Bangor, Maine — Beal University (Beal), which was founded as a business college in the U.S. by Mary E. Beal in 1891. Over the next 135 years Beal evolved into a comprehensive institution with diverse academic offerings serving a wide range of students within the state of Maine and beyond its borders. The university offers 32 accredited programs spanning diplomas, associate degrees, bachelor's degrees, and master's degrees across 7 core fields.
